The land has a documented history. Silapaa treats it that way: as something to be told truthfully, by people who are from here.

A 5,000-year-old seed variety is as compelling as any sculpture, and we try to make both.

Some programmes happen on a calendar: a morning procession, a naming ceremony, a conversation about what to keep. Others are impromptu.
